Message from Chairmen

Dear Colleague,

The worldwide prevalence of dementia now encompassing 36 million people will increase by 85% over the next 20 years and more than triple by the year 2050.

Currently:
• Dementia costs account for 1% of the world's gross domestic product.
• About 70% of global costs occurred in two regions of the world: Western Europe and North America.

Dementia is already affecting health systems around the world. To deal with future challenges of dementia, governments must make dementia a health priority and develop national plans to address the illness.

There is an urgent need to increase dementia research, develop policies and plans for long-term care, and ensure access to cost-effective and appropriate healthcare services. Only by investing now in research and cost-effective approaches to care can future societal costs be anticipated and managed.

The International Conference on Clinical Practice in Alzheimer - CPAD aims to bring to families, patients researchers and clinicians the cutting-edge technologies, data and practical lore that are needed in clinical practice. The conference will focus on the challenges of preventing, diagnosing and managing AD. We hope to create with your help a meeting that will be interactive and each participant will contribute his/her experience in a series of workshops, plenary sessions and presentations.

Clinical practice is not only our theme but the goal of this exciting new conference.

Sincerely,
